MAASAI MARA AND DIANI BEACH – BEST IN AFRICA AWARDS
Kenya has yet again been garlanded with awards as the best tourist destination on the African continent following the announcement of the World Travel Awards 2017.
The Maasai Mara National Reserve won the vote as Africa’s leading national park against stiff competition from South Africa’s Kruger National Park, Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, Botswana’a Central Kalahari Game Reserve and other destinations in Uganda and Namibia.
Diani Beach in Kwale received the award for the best coastal destination in Africa, the fourth year in a row it has done so, winning over beach resorts in South Africa, Zanzibar’ Mozambique and Egypt.
Diani’s Leopard Beach Resort and Spa was also voted Africa’s best family resort.
EVENING OF AWARDS FOR KENYA
Over an evening of award after award being given to Kenyan destinations and organisations at the award ceremony held in Kigali on Tuesday, national carrier Air Kenya won awards for best airline and best airline business class, and the Kenya Tourism Board, for the sixth year in a row, bagged the price as the tourism agents in Africa.
There were also awards for Sarova Hotesl, Resorts and Game Lodges (best hotel brand); the Fairmont Mount Kenya safari Club (best hotel); Abercrombie and Kent (best luxury tour operator); and Mombasa port (leading cruise facility in Africa).
The leading luxury lodge award went to the Sirikoi Lodge while Finch Hattons was voted the best tented safari camp in Africa.
