Moi University Commemorates Garissa University Attack Students

It was an emotional day at Moi University Eldoret yesterday as students held a memorial service in honour of the lives that were lost during the Garissa University College terrorist attack last year.

Tears flowed freely as survivors recounted the events of that fateful day that claimed 147 lives.

The students, who wear T-shirts labeled Garissa 148, carried portraits of their fallen comrades and light candles in their honour.

Vice Chancellor Prof Richard Mibey said they will use the occasion to commemorate and honour those who died during the terror attack.

“We shall use the anniversary to thank God for those who survived and pray that such an attack never happens again. To the perpetrators, we ask the Almighty God to forgive them and give them a human heart to understand that we are all children of one God with the same feeling and they should stop inflicting pain on innocent people,” said the VC.

Following the attack, Students from Garissa University were admitted the Moi University Main Campus students’ centre in Eldoret to carry on with their studies.

Al Shabaab militia raided Garissa university on 2nd april last year and shot dead 147 students.
