Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has announced his bid to contest for presidency in the 2022 general elections.

“I will be the first President of Kenya from the Coast in 2022,” Joho said.

He was speaking in Majengo yesterday, accompanied by Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir said where he kicked off a four day development tour of Mombasa County that ends on Wednesday.

Joho condemned the Jubilee administration for trying to impose leaders and maintained that the presidency cannot be reserve of two communities only as “Kenya belongs to all of us and all must enjoy freedom and opportunity equally”.

“This country cannot always be led by two regions. I heard President Uhuru saying those who want the presidency should wait for 2032. That is old thinking,” he said.

The two leaders launched launch roads, sewerage systems and a hospital built by the county and the Mvita Constituency Development Fund.
