Mutula Kilonzo’s death must be handled better than the Ouko investigation. The first was bungled so badly we still have no answer to the question of who murdered Robert Ouko.
The Standard has reported that the family of the late Mutula Kilonzo is considering hiring a foreign homicide detective to undertake an independent investigation into the Senator’s death last Saturday.
‘If that happens’, The Standard’s report continued, ‘then the investigation will take the direction of the former UK’s Scotland Yard investigator John Troon who was brought over to probe the murder [of] former Foreign Affairs minister Robert Ouko’. If this is the case, the Kenya Forum can only urge the family members concerned to be cautious.
Far from being a good exemplar, the Detective Superintendent John Troon’s bungled investigation into the murder of Dr Robert Ouko in February 1990 and the ‘flawed’ report that followed were in no small measure responsible for the failure to track down the late minister’s real killers, as regular readers of the Forum will know. We recommend a trip back to our archives to an article published on September 10, 2011, to find out more:
