Not only is US President Barack Obama a great political orator he can also knock an audience dead when it comes to delivering a funny speech, something he proved yet again on Saturday evening.

LUPITA GRACES WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS DINNER

The event was the White House Correspondents’ dinner, the once-in-a-year opportunity that President Obama gets to have a crack at the political and news journalists and correspondents who make up most of the audience.

Joining the politicos were also several stars from stage and screen, prominent among them our very own Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar winning star of 12 Years a Slave, who looked stunning in a strapless black and white dress with what we are told was a ‘peplum ruffle’.

Earlier in the day Lupita had also been knocking them dead looks-wise when she attended the pre-dinner ‘Garden Brunch’ in a strapless red-and-white cocktail dress by top designer Giambatti Valli.

OBAMA’S KENYAN JOKES

Obama’s best jokes for our money were:

“Let’s face it, Fox, you will miss me when I’m gone. It will be harder to convince the American people that Hillary [Clinton] was born in Kenya”.

And having congratulated Meb Keflezighi for being the first American to win the Boston Marathon (routinely won by a Kenyan), Obama quipped:

“It’s only fair since a Kenyan has been president for the last six years”.
