Fourth annual devolution conference starts in Nakuru. How to get the best out of devolution is always a topic of debate.
The 4th, annual devolution conference kicked off earlier today at the Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute, Nakuru County.
The Annual Devolution Conference provides a platform through which all stakeholders in devolution evaluate performance of both levels of governments in matters of policy, law, accountability, good governance, and service delivery, among others.
The theme for this year’s edition is “Devolution-Transforming Lives: Tell your story!”
Over 6,000 delegates are expected to take part in the four-day conference, which has been officially launched by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
This being the last devolution conference ahead of the 2017 general elections, the discussions will mostly center on the gains made by devolution since the system was introduced in 2013.
“The Fourth Annual Devolution conference will continue to provide a platform to celebrate and take stock on achievements of devolution, listen to the voices on the impact on Devolution, to interrogate the negative narrative about devolution and to seek to entrench the positive dialogue about devolution,” said cog chairman Peter Munya.
The conference will have over 15 sessions and keynote speakers will include; The President, Cabinet Secretaries, Governors, Senators, Members of County Assemblies, Renowned Conference Facilitators and Moderators amongst others.
Last year’s conference was held in Meru County. The devolution conferences are organised by the Council of Governors, which is chaired by Meru Governor Peter Munya.
