Three police officers killed by IED lain by Al-Shabaab. This happened in Liboi, in Kenya’s Garissa County which is a frequent target for terrorists.
Three police officers have been killed after a vehicle they were travelling in hit a landmine today at 6am in Liboi, Garissa County.
The vehicle belongs to Kulan AP Post, which is said to be 8 kilometres away from the scene of crime and the officers were part of the heightened surveillance to secure the area, following reports that Al-Shabaab was planning attacks in the border areas.
The attack comes a day after Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet warned that Al-Shabaab terrorists are planning to cross over into the country to launch attacks at the border areas.
Last week Suspected Al-Shabaab militants killed a chief and abducted two Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) in Omar Jillo village, Mandera County just days after killing two miners in a quarry in Elwak.
According to the IG, the militia is desperate following heightened operation by KDF in Somalia and have resorted to break into small groups and sneak in the country. Boinnet has urged the public across the country to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.
