Moses Wetangula Attacked

A car carrying Moses Wetangula came under gunfire attack last night as it travelled along Mbagathi Way at about 11pm. The Bungoma senator-elect escaped unhurt. Wetangula had just arrived from Mombasa and was being driven to Karen from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. With him was his driver and an aide. The shots were reported to have been fired from a car parked across the road, smashing the windscreen and hitting the roof.

When the attack occurred Moses Wetangula’s car did not stop but drove on to a road block on Ngong Road. The police manning the post advised them to report to Kilimani Police station to record a statement.

Later, accompanied by former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga and his spokesperson Maseme Machuka, Moses Wetangula went to the Kilimani police station to record a statement.

“ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT”

“I take this as an assassination attempt”, Westangula stated. “The police have to move with speed and open investigations into the matter.” He claimed that the threats came after he had spoken out over irregularities in the rail tendering process.

“After I spoke about rail tender, an anonymous person called and warned me against speaking ill of the rail tender.”

“INVESTIGATE FULLY” – RAILA ODINGA

“I have been to the scene of the incident which is near the Mbagathi round-about which is manned by the police”, Raila Odinga said. “This speaks volumes! We want the government to take the opportunity to investigate fully and we leave the matter to the police.”
