Swazuri has been accused among eleven other people who were also arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC)over the Sh109.76million irregular payments
Former National Land Commission (NLC) Chairman Muhammad Swazuri has been arrested over the irregular compensation for a parcel of land in Mombasa for the construction of the Southern Bypass and the Kipevu Terminal link road in October 2013.
Swazuri has been accused among eleven other people who were also arrested by detectives from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC)over the Sh109.76million irregular payments made to both individuals and entities.
The land was allegedly valued at Sh 49M.
The other NLC officials arrested alongside Swazuri include; Emma Njogu- commissioner, Tom Aziz Chavangi- CEO, Francis Karimi Mugo- Director Finance and Director Valuation and Taxation NLC.
The other suspects are Catherine Wanjiru Chege T/A.C W. Chege and Company Advocates, Samuel Rugongo Muturi (Businessman), Sostenah Ogero Taracha (Businessman), Salome Ludenyi Munubi (
The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji had ordered for the suspects’ arrest. They are facing among other charges; conspiracy to commit and economic crime, abuse of office and financial misconduct, unlawful acquisition of public property, fraudulent acquisition, dealing with suspect property and money laundering.
