The frequency and the rising cases of violence against women in the country is alarming and something needs to be done urgently before we lose more lives. It’s barely a week since Ms Mildred Odira was killed and Human Rights defender, Caroline Mwatha gone missing.

Last week, a young woman, reportedly with the help of her apartment’s caretaker, hailed a taxi to a nearby hospital to seek medical help, only for her family to find her mutilated body at Nairobi’s city mortuary.
The taxi driver has since been arrested as the family of the victim, Mildred Odira, hopes to get answers on just who killed their daughter so brutally and why?
A postmortem revealed that Mildred was killed with the state of her undergarments hinting that she was possibly raped as well.
It’s barely a week since Ms Odira was killed and another young woman has gone missing.
Human Rights defender, Caroline Mwatha, went missing since Wednesday 6th February after seeing off her daughter to school.
Ms Mwatha’s family has reportedly looked for her in all hospitals and mortuaries in the country in vain.
AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL RAISES ALARM OVER ACTIVISTS DISAPPEARANCE
Amnesty International Kenya has raised alarm over the disappearance of a human rights defender Caroline Mwatha, who is a founder member and caseworker with Dandora Community Social Justice Centre.
“We call on any person who may have information on the disappearance of Carol Mwatha to share such information with the nearest police station or Dandora Social Justice Centre on 0722746164,” said Amnesty International’s Executive Director Irũngũ Houghton.
He also urged Kenyans to continue using social media and all other means to help #FindCarolineMwatha.
The Dandora Community Social Justice Centre has been documenting cases of enforced disappearance and police extrajudicial killings, including the cold blood murder of six Dandora residents in October last year.
SONKO OFFERS SH 300, 000 CASH REWARD FOR INFORMATION ON CAROL MWATHA
Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has offered a Sh 300, 00 cash reward to anyone with information on the whereabouts of Carol Mwatha.
Sonko on Monday urged anybody with information to contact the nearest police station or the Directorate of Criminal Investigations offices.
The search for Mwatha has now been extended to water bodies and forests in Nairobi and its vicinity.
The frequency and the rising cases of violence against women in the country is alarming and something needs to be done urgently before we lose more lives.
I can only hope Carol Mwatha will not be another statistic.
