According to Speed Checker’s Africa’s Mobile Network Champions 2021 index, Kenya is ranked position 17 across Africa.
Kenya has been ranked top among her East African Counterparts, as the country with the fastest mobile internet speeds (10.66 (Mbs) in the region.
According to Speed Checker’s Africa’s Mobile Network Champions 2021 index, Kenya is ranked position 17 across Africa behind Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia, Malawi and Botswana (All top 5 in the index), but the country emerged top ahead of her EA counterparts Rwanda (29), Uganda (30) and Tanzania (37).
The report also ranked Safaricom as Kenya’s “Mobile Network Champion”.
According to the SpeedChecker index, “Africa’s Mobile Network Champions” are the best mobile networks available in Africa.
Mobile Internet Coverage
Kenya also emerged tops among countries with the most mobile internet coverage in Africa at position 6, behind Mauritius, Comoros, Seychelles, Egypt and South Africa.
Uganda ranked position 15, Tanzania 28 and Rwanda 30.
The study was conducted between January 2021 January 2022. The data was collected from end-user devices running Android and iOS systems.
Mombasa Fastest Internet Speeds in Kenya
Last year August Mombasa was ranked as the city with the Fastest Internet Speeds in Kenya According to Kenya’s Mobile and Fixed Broadband Internet Speeds survey, by global network testing and data analytics firm Ookla.
Mombasa also leads in mobile upload speeds at 17.13Mbps, followed by Nairobi at 13.27 Mbps, Nakuru at 12.65 Mbps, Eldoret at 10.11 Mbps and Kisumu at 8.95 Mbps.
According to the Speedtest survey, Kenya ranked 102nd in the world for mobile speeds and 128th for fixed broadband speeds during June 2021. The average download speed in Kenya is 22.37 Mbps while the upload speed is 13.27 Mbps with a latency of 37ms, which is significantly low compared to the global average download speed of 55.34 Mbps for mobile users and 106.61 Mbps for fixed internet consumers.
