It was the first time a female referee and all-women team was officiating a game at the African tournament, now on its 33rd edition.

Salima Mukansanga has officially become the first female to ever referee an AFCON game.

Mukansanga had been the fourth official in the clash between Guinea and Malawi on Jan. 10.
