Uganda was hit by second wave of COVID-19 in June 2021 that forced the government to tighten COVID-19 restrictions.

So far the country has recorded 122,000 coronavirus cases and 3,999 deaths.

Below is a list of travel advisory to Uganda in the wake of COVID-19.

1. Covid Test Upon Arrival

All travelers arriving in Uganda regardless of their country of origin must do a (PCR) Covid-19 test upon landing at Entebbe International Airport regardless of any other valid similar tests done from their point of origin.

As at September 2020, only those fully vaccinated are exempted from the Covid test but the Ministry of Health plans to make the testing mandatory to everyone by October.

The cost of the mandatory PCR test upon arrival at Entebbe is $65.

While departing from Uganda, you are also required to have a test taken not more than 72 hours on the date of travel.

2. Quarantine at Government Hospital

In the event that you test positive for COVID-19, you will be whisked away by an ambulance to a government hospital for treatment and quarantine at your own cost until doctors declare you fit.

3. 7 pm Curfew

As of 30 July, there is a 7 pm-5 am national curfew in Uganda that everyone is expected to adhere to.

4. Face Masks -It is mandatory for everyone aged 6 or above to wear a face mask when at a public place.
5. Accommodation – Hotels and restaurants are open with social distancing measures in place and food delivery services remain operational outside of curfew hours.
