Players at the local fashion industry are mourning the loss of yet another model, following the sudden demise of model Mercy Mokeira (23).

The 2016 Miss World Nyamira County passed away on Sunday evening at north Kinangop hospital, where she had been undergoing treatment.

Mercy is said to have first fell ill in December last year shortly after getting back into the country from a trip to Tanzania and was admitted to hospital. According to her father, Josephat Momanyi, Mercy was complaining of fatigue and muscle pains and had started having visible weight loss however even after several test doctors could not establish what was ailing her.

MS Mokeira came to the public spotlight following a cyberbullying episode that saw Kenyans take to social media to mock her together with her Miss World Siaya County counterpart after a photo the beauty queens took with inmates at the Lang’ata women’s prison went viral.

The bullies argued that the pictured inmates were more beautiful than the beauty queens, who in their opinion didn’t deserve to be crowned the “fairest “in the Miss World Kenya pageant.
