Kenyan film nominated for award in Australia film festival. The short film, ‘Runway Dreams’ was created by Lowry Odhiambo.
A short documentary directed by local actor and now filmmaker Lowry Odhiambo, famed for his role in the award-winning movie VEVE, has qualified as a nominee in Australia’s annual Focus on Ability (FOA) Short Film Festival awards.
Lowry’s entry, Runway Dreams, captures the inspiring story of Vivian Mansaray, a 25-year-old runway model from Sierra Leone Living with a speech impediment, which has not stopped her from living her runway dream in Kenya.
Focus on Ability is a short film festival, run by Nova employment, which focuses on the abilities of people with a disability with the aim of changing the society’s attitudes towards them.
FOA Film Festival calls for films that showcase the ability of people with a disability. These short films and documentaries break down the barriers for people with a disability to participate fully in society, mainly through encouraging viewers to shift their perspective
Voting is now open for the eighth edition of FOA Film Festival awards. Lowry’s entry, Runway Dreams, is a finalist among 194 entries submitted from 18 countries.
