Public outrage as Ruto’s pilot pushes police woman

Kenyans have gone ballistic on social media, following a clip that has gone viral, which shows a man of white origin, assaulting a local police woman.

The culprit, who is allegedly Deputy President William Ruto’s pilot, is seen on the clip barking orders on a female cop, who is engrossed on her phone, to control a crowd that seemed to have been getting too close to a chopper on a ground in Nyandarua County, where Ruto is said to have been attending a church function over the weekend.

“Just do your f*** job,” the man says in a section of the clip before he shoves her aside and snatches her baton.

The fury exhibited by Kenyans on social media in criticism of the manner in which the “pilot” handled the police woman, with the hashtag #DeportRutosPilot gaining massive popularity, has provoked the police Inspector General (IG), Joseph Boinnet, to issue a statement on the matter saying that he had ordered an investigation into the matter and commencement of criminal proceedings against the suspect.

“Following the unfortunate incident that took place at Ndunyu Njeru in Nyandarua last Sunday 21st February, 2016 the Inspector General of Police Mr. Joseph Boinnet has ordered investigations with immediate effect and commencement of criminal proceedings against the suspect,” the statement reads in part.

The IG further directed the said suspect to surrender to any police station to record a statement with the police over the matter.
