A middle aged man was yesterday charged in a Kiambu court for posting photos of the bodies of KDF soldiers who were killed during the brutal attack by Al-Shabaab at El Adde in Somalia over the weekend.

Eddy Reuben Illah is accused of  flouting section 29 of the Kenya Communication Act with  improper use of telecommunication system after he posted the photos of the slain  KDF soldiers on a WhatsApp group by the name ‘A young people’s union’.

The charge further said that he did so knowing that the pictures were “grossly offensive and with an intent to cause needless anxiety to the family members of the officers and Kenyans in general”.

Illah denied the charge and the Kiambu Principal Magistrate Justus Kituku, ordered that he be released on a Ksh 100,000 bond with a similar surety, or a Ksh 50,000 cash bail.

The Hearing of the case is scheduled on February 9th.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery warned Kenyans against spreading photos and alarming messages of attack saying those doing so will be arrested.

“Those circulating graphic images of murdered KDF officers are terror sympathizers,”  Tweeted CS Nkaissery

“I’ve directed IG @JBoinnet to act against those spreading material online sympathetic to terrorists,” he said on another tweet.
