Steve Harvey crowns the wrong Miss Universe 2015. It has been termed the biggest goof of the century as wrong winner announced.
Popular TV host Steve Harvey over the weekend committed what is being termed as the “blunder of the year” after he mistakenly announced the wrong winner at the just concluded miss universe 2015.
Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner of the Miss Universe pageant only to revoke the announcement in the middle of her celebrations and pronounce Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, as the actual winner.
“Okey folks I have to apologise, there’s been a mistake the 1st runners up is Miss Colombia, Miss Universe 2015 is Philippines”, he said, holding up the card that contained the official results to the crowd.
“This is exactly what’s on the card, I’ll take responsibility for this, it was my mistake, it was on the card, horrible mistake but I can show you, it’s on the card. Please don’t hold it against the ladies, it is my mistake.” He said to the applause of the audience.
An astonished Wurtzbach, who was visibly shocked by the sudden turn of events, covered her mouth in disbelief as miss USA encouraged her to walk to the front of the stage where the two beauty queens stood noticeably confused in the rather awkward moment.
Steve Harvey, who was visibly embarrassed, apologized to the audience for the “horrible mistake” as critics took to social media to condemn him for the blunder.
“I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.” Harvey tweeted
He followed up and said, “Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake.”
