President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended all political rallies in the country until the end of December.

No Mask No Service

Uhuru, who was speaking during an address to the nation,  further gave a no mask, no service directive at government offices, saying individuals flaunting Covid-19 containment measures will not be served in government offices. He also urged the private sector to join the initiative.

Bars and restaurants will also be expected to close earlier (9 pm).

The nationwide curfew has also been extended to 3rd January 2021.

Schools and churches will remain open but the president called on stakeholders to ensure that Covid-19 guidelines are adhered to.

Uhuru also directed that all state and public officers above age 58 and the immunocompromised work remotely effective immediately.

Rising Covid-19 Cases in Kenya

Kenya on Wednesday recorded 1,494 new COVID19 cases from 8,839 samples taken the last 24 hours, taking the national tally to 58,587. There are 586 new recoveries, 413 from home-based care and 173 in various hospitals.

12 patients have succumbed in the last 24 hours, raising total fatalities to 1,051.
