Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has today been remanded in custody until Thursday 22nd October 2020 when she is expected to plead to murder charges over a shooting incidence that left a man dead during the October 2019 Ganda by-election.
According to the Director of Public Prosecutions, the remand of Aisha Jumwa is to allow mental assessment and pre bail report to be carried out before plea taking.
Last week Mombasa Regional Head Alloys Kemo approved murder and assault charges against the Malindi MP and her co-accused Geoffrey Okuto Otieno. The two have been detained at Port Police Station in Mombasa County.

Corruption
The Malindi MP is also facing corruption charges. She was in August this year summoned by a Mombasa court to plead to four corruption charges.
Among the accusations is a conspiracy to steal Sh19 million meant for the Constituency Development Fund.Ms Jumwa also faces a conflict of interest, money laundering and acquisition of proceeds of crime charges.
