Kilichokuwa na mwanzo hakikosi kuwa na mwisho. I was not removed for lack of inefficiency or lack of delivery but simply the cycle of all current politicians. Duale further said in his speech.
“Kilichokuwa na mwanzo hakikosi kuwa na mwisho”, Aden Duale, who until on Monday served as the Jubilee Majority leader in parliament, said as he took to the floor of the house to make his exit speech.
Duale has served as the majority leader in President Uhuru’s administration for the last seven years and was recently replaced by Amos Kimunya.
“Today marks the end of my service as the first leader of majority party of this house under article 108 of the constitution and I want to thank the President of Kenyan and my party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta, deputy president William Ruto and the entire Jubilee Party including members of parliament for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of Kenya as leader of majority for the past seven years now,” Duale said.
“I also take this opportunity to congratulate my able successor, Honorable Amos Kimunya as he takes on the role of majority leader party in the August house, Honorable speaker, I know he has a wealth of experience having served as minister of finance and held various leadership positions in parliament and for this I have no doubt in my mind that he has what it takes, Hon. Kimunya I wish you all the best and again congratulations,”.
“Honorable speakers as a exit I’m indeed proud that during my time I succeeded in pushing through agenda of the majority party effectively, the results are out there, people can see for themselves. I was not removed for lack of inefficiency or lack of delivery but simply the cycle of all current politicians, I therefore harbour no ill feelings or grudge,” Duale further said in his speech.
“Let me finish by saying this prayer that is found in Islam; there is no storm that God wont carry you through, no bridge that God wont help you cross, no battle that God wont help you win, trust God and never give up,”.
“Mr. Speaker, finally and before I retreat to the backbench allow me to handover this file to the incoming Leader of Majority Party as his starter pack. In it includes among other things a brief detailing the pending business in this House and the Majority Party business that originated in this House but is now pending in the Senate.
The pending business in the pack includes Bills by the Majority Party, Committees and Private Members, Motions, Sessional Papers and Treaties among other things. I hope that this symbolic handover becomes part of the practice of the House.
Mr. Speaker, with these few remarks, I say thank you,” Duale said.
