7 Arrested For Impersonating KCSE Candidates in Kisii

7 men were arrested on Tuesday at a private school in Kisii County for impersonating candidates sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

The culprits were nabbed at Milimani Ramasha Academy in Nyaribari Chache constituency.

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha, the incident is part of a wider exam cheating plot in the ongoing examinations in Nyanza region.  Magoha has pitched tent in the region since the KCSE exams kicked off on Monday. Last week, the CS named Kisii as one of the examination cheating hotspots in the country.

The CS warned that anyone found colluding to cheat in the exams will be dealt with accordingly, saying that he was aware some parents in Homa Bay, Migori and Kisii counties have made contributions to buy examination papers.

The CS also cautioned school managers found engaging in examination malpractice by opening the exam papers ahead of the stipulated time.

“Keep watching to avoid earlier exposure, this morning we told them in every container to read and read again and these are people who managed schools, so you can’t say you opened it by mistake, that one we cannot hold and that why you will be responsible for your own mistake,” Magoha warned.

A supervisor was on Tuesday arrested in Nairobi West where an English Paper 2 examination was opened prematurely under unclear circumstances.
