Footballer Mc Donald Mariga has been disqualified from vying for the Kibra Parliamentary seat after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ruled that he is not a registered voter.
According to IEBC, Mariga’s details could not be found in the 2017 voters register.
The retired footballer was the Jubilee Party’s candidate in the by-election set for November 7.
Mariga said he was a registered voter and said he would appeal the decision at the IEBC Disputes Resolutions Tribunal.
“I am a registered voter, I don’t know why they can’t find my name.”
The late MP Ken Okoth’s brother, Bernard ‘Imran’ Okoth, is the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate after emerging victorious in the Saturday primaries.
Former Raila Odinga’s aide Eliud Owalo is also on the race on Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC) party’s ticket.
